I came from a track & field background. I furthered my running by participating in 5Ks, 8Ks, 10Ks, 15Ks, and a half marathon. I even dabbled in sprint triathlons for a few years. I converted over to lifting so I could improve in bike rides and had been lifting on my own for several years before joining CrossFit. When I was asked to manage the CrossFit gym several years ago it changed my lift. I have accomplished earning a Level 1 certification and now a Level 2 certification.
The turning point in my life started when I was tested for my HSCRP (High C-Reactive Protein) level. This is an early indicator of heart disease. When I tested very high I knew it was time for a change. After joining CrossFit and doing medical research, I have been able to reverse that number, improve my hypothyroidism, and stay strong through the menopause transition and beyond.
My purpose for coaching is to help others of my age build and maintain the muscle they have as they age. I am very passionate about serving the over-40 crowd. My motivation is the wins my clients tell me about. How they were strong enough to lift something, or able enough to get on and off the floor.
